Artwork
overbleed guidelines
for converting jobs with overall flood printing with critical color transition
on the seal flap. Important: Special notice should be given to your clients when developing art for converted envelopes especially with any element of the design expected to separated by folding. Envelope equipment essentially uses friction, and vacuum to feed the envelope blanks through the folding machine. At no point is there a gripper or guide to register the sheet as on printing presses. Critical register for converting is about 1/16 of movement.
Keep the art at least 1/16" away from the top score and extended parallel
past the side flap least 1/8".
Converting
envelopes up to a 6 x 9 size require artwork to include a minimum 1/16" overbleed
(wrap around) on to the back of the envelope and must bleed off dieline no less
than 1/8 of an inch. Insufficient wrap around overbleed and bleed off the die cutting may show non printed paper or place a color transition where it is not intended on the final folded piece. Following these guidelines will allow for movement during converting run and yield the best results. Knock out for no print areas and bleed off paths are uniquely designed by L.A. Envelope for each envelope dieline and must be followed precisely. Artwork designed to be converted with perfect register on the final folded piece must be steel rule die cut and scored prior to converting. Contact customer service for instructions.
